Laura began her musical training at age four. Her beginning years were guided by the Suzuki method at the local Community School of Music in Claremont, California. During her middle school and high school years, she auditioned and was accepted into the studio of Richard Schwabe at the pre-college division of The Colburn School of Music.
Laura received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Performance from California State University, Long Beach. At Cal State Long Beach, Laura studied with Linda Rose, Lorenz Gamma, and Moni Simeonov. She obtained roles as concertmaster and principal second with the Symphony Orchestra. Laura has auditioned into and participated in multiple summer music festivals, including: the National Orchestral Institute, American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria, Mendocino Music Festival, Blackburn Academy at Festival Napa Valley, and the Next Festival of Music. In addition, Laura has been on multiple European orchestral tours. She has had additional instruction and participated in master classes by: Midori Goto, Alice Schoenfeld, James Buswell, Roberto Cani and Gregory Fulkerson.
As a freelance violinist, Laura has performed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show with the band Bastille, collaborated with Bastille for their videos at Capitol Studios, and performed with Børns and Sam Smith for their respective concerts. She regularly plays with the Oceanside String Quartet throughout Southern California, for weddings and various other events. In addition, she plays with the LA Jewish Symphony and recorded with them on their latest album, The Music of Eric Zeisl. Laura was also a member of the American Youth Symphony from 2016 - 2019.
As an academic, Laura achieved a 4.00 in graduate school, graduated Magna Cum Laude as an undergraduate and was in the top 2% of her high school graduation class. When she was in her last year of her undergraduate degree, Laura was elected and nominated by school faculty for induction into the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society. During her Master’s degree, she wrote a thesis titled A Study of Women’s Experiences in Becoming Professional Classical String Musicians. In December 2020, Laura completed a Certificate in Arts Management, and is currently the Director of Development for Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra.
Laura is endlessly curious, and has studied the viola, fiddle, baroque music, and new music. In addition, she is a voracious reader and is proficient in the German language.
